Thirty years ago, Hedley accompanied by his wife and her daughter Kate, travelled from Brunei to the Niah caves in Sarawak, Malaysia. They travelled by car, ferry boat and foot. He started to move out early in the morning and arrived at dusk. He took a rest in a government rest house. During his trip he saw a lot of beautiful views like caves, birds, bamboo poles. In addition, he saw men climbing to scrape birds nests off the roof of the cave in order to sell them to the Chinese. He came back the next day to his house.
